    Capacity Building

Activities such as the IBRO Neuroscience School in Kolkata, India (pictured, above) -- as well as the IBRO Visiting Lecture Team Program and IBRO Teaching Tools Workshops -- attract participants from local medical schools and neurology departments who may subsequently decide to embark on a research career in neuroscience. Often, IBRO lecturers also meet with local university leaders to help establish graduate programs in neuroscience or serve as mentors to help guide the careers of motivated young scientists interested in a career in neuroscience. Finally, IBRO's Return Home Program helps to prevent "brain drain" by providing start-up funding to young neuroscientists who were trained abroad, so that they may return to their home countries and establish laboratories there, mentoring local talent and and further developing high-quality research programs.
