Organizer: Pierre Luabeya, Chair of the Africa Regional Committee
Venue: Institut National de la Recherche Biomédicale (INRB) and Sultani Hotel, Kinshasa, DRC.
This 3-day neuroscience workshop will be held in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo with a focus on diseases that mostly affect the peripheral nervous system. Didactic courses will be given on fundamentals of functional neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, and neurometrics (measuring of nervous system electrical activities mostly evoked potentials, nerve conduction studies, and electromyography).
Transitional modules will discuss the pathophysiology and mechanisms underlying major classes of peripheral neuropathies including those of toxic (e.g. drug-induced) or metabolic (e.g. uremic) origin. Treatment modalities including pain management will be part of the discussion sessions. Late sessions will consist of practicum on techniques of nerve conduction studies and evoked potentials.
Funding provided by the Africa Regional Committee.
