    Aims and Scope of the School:

    The purpose of this school is to provide an opportunity for postgraduate students in the Asia-Pacific region to acquire cornerstone knowledge of both theoretical and technical key areas of Functional Human Brain Mapping with two main themes focused on Attention/Working Memory, and Decision Making/Executive Functions.

    Description:

    National Brain Mapping Lab, University of Tehran, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Iran University of Medical Sciences, Institute for Cognitive Sciences Studies, Tarbiat Modares University and Shahid Beheshti University are pleased to host the 1st Iranian IBRO/APRC School of Cognitive Neuroscience on Human Brain Mapping, September 23 - October 4, 2016 in Tehran, Iran.

    Educational Objectives:
    The purpose of this school is to provide an opportunity for postgraduate students in the Asia-Pacific region to acquire cornerstone knowledge of both theoretical and technical key areas of Functional Human Brain Mapping with two main themes focused on Attention/Working Memory, and Decision Making/Executive Functions. The school provides two full days with 12 lectures and six days with opportunities to participate in a variety of laboratory projects based on the selected themes. Hands on experience with 3 Tesla MRI scanner, fNIRS scanner, EEG amplifier, tES/rTMS devices and analysis software packages will provide the audience a unique opportunity to experience data acquisition and analysis under the supervision of senior investigators and professors. The last two days in the school is devoted to proposal writing and discussion about research ideas for the future works. Participants will enjoy a full day of cultural visit in Tehran on the eighth day of the school.

    Who should apply to this School?

    Funding from International Brain Research Organization (IBRO), Iranian Neuroscience Society (INSS) and Cognitive Science and Technologies Council (CSTC) of Iran will enable 24 students to attend this school. MD, PhD and Post-Doc Students in related disciplines (24 Participants: 12 from Asia-Pacific countries and 12 Iranian applicants, who are not more than 35 years old by September 23rd 2016) with adequate exposure to at least one research technique during their graduate studies, are encouraged to apply. Applicants are expected to have at least one publication in peer-reviewed journals. The applicants should have very good communication skills in English (written/spoken). Students will be chosen on the basis of their academic records and their potential for being involved with Human Brain Mapping in their home country and institute. All applicants should supply a one-page CV, the names of two academic referees and a statement (max 500 words) of how this school will benefit the applicant's own research career.
    Students selected to attend the School will have their travel and living expenses (housing and meals) covered by the School. International students are responsible for arrangement of their visa, but it will be partially supported by the school secretariat office in Tehran.
